Note

Exceptional heavy and richly nacred deep water, rare color version of this signature Australian Zoila species (71.2 grams). Diffuse clearly demarcated and dorsal sparsely arranged chocolate/sienna brown blotch, light peach/beige hued margins with modest and sparse surreal lateral wall spotting, especially the labral lateral wall. The moderately rostrated shell is exemplified by a unusual and almost absent dorsal line. The shell shows modest tuberculation of the rounded margins and perfect extremities. An outstanding specimen with a faint grey/bluish halo complementing and fringing the dorsal distantly spotted blotch. The specimen is an historic shell, as multiple data tags reveal its notoriety after being collected. Taken at 35 meters by Scuba diver Andrew Edinger resting in a sponge nestled on a hard, low profile coral platform in 5/1997 approximately 2 kms. south of Northwest Passage, Coral Bay, Western Australia. EX: John Jackson. The shell demonstrates two insignificant hairline creases under magnification on the anterior ramp. Grade: GEM minus.
